Greetings family and friends,

Back in Old Blighty, that is Great Britain. More specifically, due south of London on the coast in the city of Brighton. A big-time seaside destination during the summer, but also a travel get-away regardless of the time of year. The vibe in Brighton is boisterous as there is an abundance of energy. Lots of young folks about but the older ones seem just as energetic, A place that embraces a get out and about attitude.

Brighton Palace Pier

The iconic pier as pictured on the left, as well as in other photos in the gallery, is of epic proportions with big and small food places and shops plus the amusement park at the far end. There is even signage warning the head strong that jumping off the pier into the water is not only against the law but DANGEROUS! Apparently there is some history here that the obvious needs to be stated.

Another landmark in Brighton is that of the Clock Tower as seen on the right, which celebrates the golden jubilee of Queen Victoria. On each side of the tower is a portrait of a member of the royal family at the time – the Queen, the Prince Consort, the Prince of Wales, and the Princess of Wales. This was just around the corner from my aparthotel and just across the street from the Waterstones bookshop – five stories of literary magnificence. BTW, Waterstones owns Barnes & Nobles bookstores found in the United States.

Royal Pavilion

The Royal Pavilion is another noteworthy landmark that quite simply dominates the neighborhood in the eastern part of central Brighton. As pictured to the left, as well as in other photos in the gallery, it doesn’t have that typical English architecture or at least not so in my mind. But it is eye catching!

Well that wraps up another series of On the Flip Side as I am heading back stateside. First, merci to those of you who have been following along. Second, merci beaucoup to those of you who have provided commentary, especially via the public comments. Your encouragement is something I have always appreciated and continue to appreciate even more. As always, please feel free to share this link with anyone who expresses an interest. Please have a look at the gallery below for full-size versions of the photos above as well as additional photos of Brighton.

See you soon,
